History of IAN JAMESON

He began to write his own songs at the age of 16 and by the time he was 19 was touring the folk circuit in the UK as a singer songwriter.

He formed several bands in the 1970's performing his original material in rock venues and universities, culminating with Rodent Enterprises between 1976 and 1979. At the same time he was playing alongside
contemporaries such as Elvis Costello,Buzzcocks, Suzzie and the Banshees, Joy Division etc.. as a compare at Rafters and Band in the wall which were two of Manchester top new music venues at the time.

In 1979 he joined zany Manchester comedy band
Brownsville Banned as their
singer guitarist.

He soon discovered however that he had a talent for comedy too, co-writing new material and using his songwriting skills to help take the band in a much more commercial direction..

He spent the next 5 years with Brownsville Banned performing in night clubs, folk clubs, festivals and military bases all over the UK and Europe.

He also made 2 albums with them and 2 TV series for Granada TV and Southern TV.

In 1984 he met his wife Lindsay, an actress from Liverpool. They formed Little Devils, a comedy duo which worked the London alternative circuit during 1985/86.

They wanted to travel the world and realized that alternative comedy was not the vehicle to transport them.

So, in late 1986 they formed the vocal cabaret duo Cachet. They honed their show in the West End clubs of London for a year and then were offered a contract in Kenya, where they spent 6 months performing to holiday makers from around the globe.

Ian moved onto keyboard,as well as vocals/guitar and they soon found themselves working all over the world,as a lounge duo, in hotels, casinos and on cruise ships.

During their 23 years together they traveled to; Kenya, Malta,Arab Emirates, Portugal, Spain, Mexico, USA, Canada, the Caribbean, Tahiti, Hawaii and of course venues all over the UK and Europe.

He went solo in 2007 as the entertainer on the river cruiser Da Vinci, sailing the Rhine between Cologne and Basil in Switzerland.

He then moved to Fuengirola, Spain and spent nearly two years there up and down the coast as a lounge singer and troubadour.

He had always been interested in working in Scandinavia, so in the November of 2008 he moved to Denmark where he has spent most of his time working in the bars and cafes of the wonderful city of Copenhagen as a troubadour and several months for DFDS ferries.

He is currently back in the UK working on a new album and a comedy project for disadvantaged youth, with stand up artist Bury Bob which they hope to take to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
