Jukebox Monkey
In an increasingly complicated, chaotic modern world we all seek moments to let off steam, hang out with friends and have a good time. JukeBox Monkey – a four-piece rock band from Kent, UK – formed under the premise to make music true to the values that rock and roll was founded on – playing with heart, no compromising, and having a hell of a good time doing it.
Born in the summer of 2010, JBM are defined by their riff-orientated hard rock, alongside experimental flair and soaring vocal melodies. The band wear their influences as badges of honour, combining classic influences such as Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC alongside modern nods to Down, Every Time I Die , Clutch, The Damned Things & Black Label Society, all of which have influenced the band’s sound.
Their debut EP is a blend of classic rock riffs and driving grooves, with the intensity of a modern hard-rock band, coupled with an anthemic vocal delivery and an upbeat sensibility. “With this record we tried to capture the vibe of the four of us playing together, so most of it is recorded live, and overdubs are minimal. It sounds really spontaneous, and powerful as hell.” explains vocalist and guitarist Chris D.
The band is made up of experienced musicians who have been actively gigging for more than a decade. The band is fronted by the charismatic ChrisD (Red Thirteen, The Lonelyband, Immaculate Deception) and ChrisH’s (Randall’s Flag) innovative and heavy lead guitar work adds a touch of finesse to all the power and groove. Pete Nightingale (Red Thirteen, Randall’s Flag) has a powerfully unique drumming style that underpins ChrisP’s (Nudge Muffin) rocksolid bass rhythms. JBM acknowledge that great musicianship alone doesn’t make a great band, “…having been in bands before you realize that chemistry is so important. The first time we jammed together we wrote an entire song, and I knew this was something special” says guitarist Chris H.
Between their various previous projects, the band have played over three-hundred shows across London and the South East, including venues such as The Dublin Castle, The 12 Bar, The Amersham Arms, The Borderline, The Purple Turtle, The Hope & Anchor, The Water Rats, The Cartoon, The Red Lion, The Tap n’ Tin, The Caernarvon Castle and many more. JukeBox Monkey are now lining up a string of live dates in the UK, taking their fresh music and energetic live show to new audiences across the land.
This is bad-ass Rock n roll. Arse kicking, not wrist slitting. Down-tuned, but upbeat.
Come join them and be part of the ride…
