K. Daniel Lightfoot

My name is K. Daniel Lightfoot. I am 52 years old and live in western Illinois. I play Native American flute, guitar, and keyboards. I also do my own vocals. Have 2 friends that contributed greatly to 2 of my songs. Tom Biasi created the flute music to "Mitawin - Micante" (My Woman - My Heart). He also played the flute in this piece. I also need to mention Rusty Carnes for his special effects he used for "Waziya" (Spirit of the North). I wrote the words for my music, except for "Lament of Mother Earth". My mother Jay Buck wrote the words for it. I also perform playing and singing country/ western music. 100% of the monies I receive from my Native American music will be divided evenly as a gift to the different Native American Schools in the Dakotas and Montana, & the Native American Heritage Assoc. which gives help to the Lakota people at the Pine Ridge & Rosebud Reservations in South Dakota. I was raised in western Illinois, but have travelled all over the U.S. I have performed at powwows and other special events. I have three very wonderful daughters who are also very musically gifted.

Main Influences on K. Daniel Lightfoot

My greatest influence in music was my father. Without his knowledge and guidance, I might never have gone as far as I have with my passion for music. My mother and her parents also greatly inluenced me to continue with my music. I also wish to mention my siblings who I dearly love. My personal favorites as Native American flautists are Coyote Oldman and R. Carlos Nakai.
