The debut album (originally released only on cassette) from THE VOID, at one time NW Pennsylvania's most popular and critically praised original band. Mixing everything from psychedelic acid rock, punk, folk and blues, The Void were a group like no other in their region, defying the conventions of the day by playing almost one hundred percent original material and crafting songs with introspective, sometimes cryptic lyrics (which lead singer Greg Ropp continued to explore on future releases by The Void and his follow up band, 5 Empty Chambers). The line up at this time included Mike Graham on lead guitar, who tears it up on signature tracks "The Ocean" and "Let's Live Today", PJ Askey on drums and Jimmy Fruechtel on bass. The response to "Open Up Your Mind and Step Inside" was incredible and the cassette sold out in a matter of months. The critical response was extremely favorable as well and The Void performed to packed venues throughout the late 1980's and early 1990's. The original line up dissolved soon after, although The Void was later re-formed by Ropp in 1992 with a new batch of musicians (and two CD releases). Some claim that this is THE best album ever released by The Void and it is definitely the hardest to get your hands on. Original cassette releases of this album have been spotted at record stores for $50.00 unopened. Here is your chance to own this landmark, homegrown release in all it's glory for about $12.00. Enjoy! Fun fact: Greg never uttered three words in any of the official Void releases: "he", "she" and "love", probably the three most common words in rock and roll. Dig.
