Oasis in Space - Peter Ashby
Peter says “ I started playing guitar properly at the age of 18 after several false starts. Me and a friend played the folk clubs. During a most undistinguished career in a variety of mundane jobs I never lost interest in playing music. I was in a band playing all sorts of dubious venues and occasions. At the same time I tried to write my own stuff with some very slight success. I wrote songs for the Special Olympics UK which were quite well received.
I now write at least three or four songs every month which I consider to be 'acceptable.' I am finding that writing in a 'country' style is the most direct way of expressing myself. I do not delude myself though and I am continually looking for someone who might like my songs and want to perform them.
My songs are stories that I make up but all of them have a grain of truth in them.To me songs are like children, when they are first born they are quite helpless but if given care and attention they grow in stature and the more you love them the better they become. Eventually they are by your side and are part of your life, you can't live without them.
